Evon Medics, LLC is a medical device and neuroscience research company that develops innovative devices and therapeutics set to disrupt the healthcare industry. We are leading the development of Disease Modifying Therapies (DMT) for Alzheimer’s Disease, Opioid Use Disorder, Traumatic Brain Injury, Chronic Pain, and other neurological diseases that have remained elusive to treatment. Evon Medics, LLC, in collaboration with Howard University, is actively seeking a Research Assistant. The ideal candidate will participate in design, execution, analysis, and evaluation of research projects related to neuroscience grants shared between Evon Medics, LLC and Howard University. Projects will be developed under the supervision of the Translational Neuroscience Laboratory Director at Howard University. The candidate will perform tasks related to research projects independently, but within specific guidelines and subject to review by supervisor or other senior research staff.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Recruit and enroll study participants into the company research studies and clinical trials
  • Ensure retention of all study participants in the research studies and clinical trials by regular check-ups through calls, text, and email
  • Assist in design, execution, analysis, and evaluation of research projects
  • Ensure study protocol is approved by IRB, implemented and strictly adhered to
  • Ensure research goals and objectives specified for assigned project(s) are accomplished in accordance with established priorities, time and funding limitations, and other specifications
  • Maintain Excel and REDCap databases specific for research project
  • Perform regular statistical analyses on all study-related data using SPSS or other statistical software
  • Assist with writing and editing NIH grants, scientific publications, and IRB and IBC protocols for approval by medical school committees
  • Participate in drafting of research manuscripts for publication, organize project documentation, and contribute to preparation of reports
  • Document and maintain data/records of studies/clinical trials
  • Perform laboratory maintenance and upkeep duties as needed
  • May be cross trained on other job functions as needed

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Experience organizing and facilitating engaging community-based events and activities
  • Experience engaging and enrolling participants of diverse backgrounds into research studies and Clinical Trials
  • Excellent communication, presentation, public speaking, and interpersonal skills
  • Amiable and non-judgmental personality with ability to maintain confidentiality and respect for participants
  • Hard-working, self-motivated, and reliable
  • Relationship building and management skills
  • High School Diploma required; Associates or College degree preferred

Other Skills and Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences or neuroscience, psychology, behavioral biology, chemistry, or related field. Master’s Degree preferred. Must be able to commit to project for 1 full year or longer
  • Minimum 2-year experience working in a scientific research organization or clinical trials
  • Ability to learn clinical, cognitive, and psychological assessments, as well as science laboratory techniques
  • Ability to write abstracts of scientific papers
  • Engaging, amiable and charismatic personality with a collaborative mindset
  • Student mentality, strong listening, organizational, multi-tasking, and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent presentation, written and verbal communication skills
  • Data analytics of experimental results
  • Self-motivated, innovative, and competitive attitude to work
  • Travel – up to 50% regional
